






























































































































these images were made over the last decade along the georgia coast…from skidaway island all the way down to cumberland, with stops in darien, on sapelo island, and in between. the photographs were made in connection to my ongoing Harvest project that documents various harvests across the south, and also for the New York Times in relation to articles we worked on together about sapelo island and about chef matthew raiford. in addition to documenting the agricultural program on sapelo for the last five years in conjunction with the non-profit, SOLO, i have also been working with the oyster shell recycling program, shell to shore, to document their efforts to repurpose recycled oyster shells in living shorelines to protect our coast from the threat of sea level rise, and i also recently collaborated with The Nature Conservancy and author Janisse Ray on little st. simon’s island and one hundred miles, an environmental advocacy group. i have also followed developments in indigo growing and harvesting along the coast and into south carolina, and worked with the bitter southerner on pieces related to the coast, as well. i am interested in capturing the seasons and ways of life along the islands and waterways of the coast and in the flora and fauna of this unique place. i want to help the viewer to feel like they are standing beside me…that they can taste the salt in the air and feel the breeze on their face and warming sand between their toes.
