i was honored when kinfolk asked me to host some community gatherings on their behalf. i have worked with the mag a little bit since they began, and i have enjoyed watching them grow. these gatherings were a wonderful way to meet new  people and learn something new, and eat some good food while we were at it...this past year, we had a flower potluck and a honey harvest party.

the first gathering was the flower potluck and was held in the spring, on a rainy saturday in the shotgun house across the street. everyone brought some sort of floral ingredient, then we all made arrangements and ate great food by our friend nathan brand. it was fun to meet new people and be surrounded by flowers.

the second gathering was a honey harvest, at 3 porch farm one a warm july day. we learned all about beekeeping and tasted varieties of honey from all around the world. we then, infused our own honey and ate the most delicious meal in mandy's flower shack.
